Facebook Login Bug: Its Logging Users Into Random Accounts Instead of Their Own

There’s been a lot of discussion about Facebook’s security problems. Mark himself admired the problem during the interview with Walt at D8. Just a bit later Facebook took measures to resolve the issue and a lot of amendments were made in Facebook’s security settings. But it seems that instead of improving security problems, facebook has messed things up or is just blowing in our eyes in this regard.

Right now, facebook is undergoing the worst ever security hiccups. One can’t even imagine how mercilessly his personal details are being shared with the world. And there’s no urgent solution. It is not related to your account/password or anything. It is not like a case in which your password is compromised and you could resolve the issue by changing the password or security question. It is even worse! In fact users are being logged into random facebook accounts instead of their own when they log in!!

Just a while ago, I logged into my Facebook account to find that I was logged into someone else’s account! Seriously! I refreshed the page, and navigated through different stuff to find out that the things were all messed up! I gonna explain all that in detail but first you need to know that I am not alone. After I managed to log in to my own account, I found lots of friends complaining about the same problem!

You can see this is some random girl. She is not even from my friends. And none of the news feeds are from my friends. I didn’t try but I am very sure I was able to update her status. And that’s not simple. When I navigated the links on the left hand, some interesting things happened. I was able to navigate through all of her and her friends’ photos and profiles. But when I clicked on ‘Edit my profile’ link under her profile picture, I was surprised. I was now logged into another girl ABC Zafer’s account without any need to log out or anything! Look for yourself:

Interesting? Really! But that doesn’t end here. I went back to ‘News Feed’ and another surprise was waiting for me! The left side bar was still telling me that I was logged into XYZ Talat’s account but the news itself were from my friends! Here’s a screenshot:

I had this issue too. I found

I had this issue too. I found myself logged into my brother's account, yet I never logged off of my account and I certainly never logged into my brother's account - I don't even know his password!

I asked him if he had used my PC, but he denied doing so. I was almost positive he was lying until searching for "facebook bug - logged into someone else's account" on Google (without the quotes) and finding this blog post. I then realized that he really had not logged into his account on my PC. My mother even said he felt bad because he didn't want me thinking he used my PC when he really didn't.

I have password-protected my PC, so if this does happen again, I will have no doubt that it's a Facebook bug. I do believe that it is a bug though with Facebook, and I really hope it is resolved because that's a pretty big security breach.
