    Ubuntu 10.10 'Maverick Meerkat' keeps changing. The latest updates include a brand new default wallpaper which I think looks horrible. The new changes also brings in a select number of wallpapers contributed by community which unlike their 'default' counterpart, looks beautiful. Meanwhile, you may also want to check out our collection of 10 handpicked Ubuntu 10.10 wallpapers from Ubuntu Artwork Pool.

    Unfortunately, the above wallpaper is supposedly going to be the new Ubuntu 10.10 default wallpaper. But I seriously hope, when the final release comes out, they have a surprise in store for us in the form of a new default wallpaper. At least a modified one, please. I really hate those red spots!!

    Community Contributed Wallpapers For Ubuntu 10.10
    But thats not the case with the community contributed wallpapers for Ubuntu 10.10. In my opinion the collection is absolutely unique and beautiful. A preview of some of them below.

    You can download the entire collection of community contributed wallpapers for Ubuntu 10.10  selected for final release from here. The collection include 17 new wallpapers.

    Hugely Improved Ubuntu Light Themes

    • We have already discussed about the changes coming to Ubuntu Light Themes ahead of Ubuntu 10.10 release. The changes are not final yet. New light themes gets a lot of polish through an attention to detail. Below screenshot via Canonical Design.
    • If you want to try them out in Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid Lynx', do the following in Terminal.
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/light-themes && sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    • Done. PPA brought to you by WebUpd8.
    • Even though the updated light themes looks much better, it's still way too much 'orange' for me. I for now, will stick with Equinox GTK Theme + Faenza Icon Set combination.
