First things first you will need to download Google Chrome OS Beta and Virtual Box.

Once you have downloaded the .ISO file and unzipped it you can create your virtual disk.

Step 1 – Name the Virtual Machine and set OS and type to other.

Screen shot 2009-09-25 at 2.29.27 PM

Step 2 – Set the base memory size(RAM) I used 1000MB NOTE: Go easy on this at first you can always bump it up later if need be

Screen shot 2009-09-25 at 2.29.57 PM

Step 3 – Create a new hard disk and boot hard drive

Screen shot 2009-09-25 at 2.29.57 PM

Step 4 -Pick the type of storage you would like I did dynamically expanding storage.

Step 5 – Now set your hard drive space. I could spare 2 GB so that’s what I used.

Screen shot 2009-09-25 at 2.30.16 PM

Step 6 -Go ahead and Run your new Virtual Machine

Screen shot 2009-09-25 at 2.30.30 PM

Step 7 -Begin installing your Chrome ISO

Screen shot 2009-09-25 at 2.30.39 PM

Step 8 -Select your ISO image and blast off!

Screen shot 2009-09-25 at 2.34.04 PM

Step 9 -Select to install Chrome OS then sit back and watch it install.

Screen shot 2009-09-25 at 2.34.23 PM

Step 10 -Enjoy, test and play with Google Chrome OS.

Screen shot 2009-09-25 at 2.39.58 PM

Simple and to the point hope this is helpful!

GOOGLE CHROME: THE MINIATURE MOBILE OS PUT INSIDE OUR LAPTOPs?

Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 11/20/2009 - 01:02.

You want facts? "what if your browser was your operating system. new OS no kernel, no all.... BIOS was redesigned?"

It's like they made a mobile OS and applied in a computer

See the Chrome's detailed review: Will Chrome succeed?

Sounds promising, but only for my netbook.. there's no way in hell I will use this for my desktop (just in case BIG G decided to used this on PC in the future)

That's OpenSUSE/GNOME, I kinda doubt that "re-inventing the Operating System" is as simple as shipping GNOME on OpenSUSE and tweaking the background image a bit.

Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 09/27/2009 - 19:35.

    hey, nice guide.

i like the idea about virtual box, but i'm wondering if it's possible to get this working on a small partition and have it dual boot with linux or another OS.

i know it's still in development, but i'd rather run it from its own space. call me difficult ... :)

    thanks for the help.

    cheers

    Hi there!

Google Chrome OS has not been released yet. Not even the beta you are describing. What you installed is a fake version. It's a simple distribution created with SUSE studio. Read the full story at http://chromeos-blog.com .
